Sharing Christ in Believers' Homes, S.Y.

The ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee stresses not only the truths in the Bible but also the practices. For example, the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:26 told the believers, “What then, brothers? Whenever you come together, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for the building up.” He also said that in their meetings, all the believers can speak of the Lord; that is, all the believers have some portion of Christ that they have enjoyed (Colossians 1:12). But how is that carried out when there are over a hundred believers gathering together? The ministry of Witness Lee emphasizes the home meetings. There are meetings in the believers' homes where a small number can come together to enjoy the Lord, share their experiences, and encourage one another to pursue the Lord. In Acts, the believers broke bread in their houses and Paul speaks of the believers being built up with one another since we are all members of the Body of Christ (Acts 2:42,46;Eph. 4:16).

The home meetings that I have participated in have been a great help in my Christian life. When I was in college, I always felt like each believer's sharing and singing in my home meeting washed me inwardly from all the worldly entanglements that I had picked up during the week. Furthermore, the sharing strongly encouraged me to continue to follow the Lord. God is a flowing God, and He quenched my thirst by flowing through the believers' speaking.

Without these home meetings in my college years it would have been very hard for the Lord to bring me on in my Christian life. It is the environment of all the believers functioning that helped me to sing, to pray, and to share my experiences. Without the small and intimate atmosphere of the homes, I would never have been able to see how crucial each member of the church is.
